

New Orleans at the turn of the century looked like Paris. Most of its old buildings were demolished during the 1900s and replaced with parking lots and concrete office buildings.

Villa Hållnäs in Sundsvall, Sweden, was constructed in 1883 by a local dentist who named it after the town where his father was a dean. It was well-preserved and in good condition when it was acquired by eminent domain in 2015, and was ultimately demolished this month.
