Osborn Hall, Yale University. 1890-1926. Demolished only 36 years after opening due to its proximity to high traffic streets at a busy intersection, the noise from which made it impossible to give or receive lectures.

The Detroit Museum of Art sparked Detroits fine arts when it opened in 1888 with a huge collection of paintings from all over the world. In 1960 it was demolished for a highway intersection on I-375.

Albany, NY: Thousands of buildings, around 40 square blocks covering 98 acres were demolished in the 60s to build the Empire State Plaza

The Stanford Mansion, San Francisco, CA. 1874-1906. Burned to the ground after the 1906 Earthquake

The Palomar Ballroom, Los Angeles, Ca. (1925-1939) Boasting itself as “the largest and most famous dance hall on the West Coast”, this popular night spot, formerly known as the El Patio Ballroom and Rainbow Gardens, was located at 245 S. Vermont Avenue, until it burnt to the ground in 1939.
