The Wave House (also known as Miles Bates House) was designed by modernist architect Walter S. White for the artist Miles C. Bates. White, who patented the design of the structure, created the curvilinear design from hundreds of wooden dowels with concave elements that are lined up closely together. Clerestory windows are then placed between the swooping roof and the exterior walls.
After being vacant for several years, Stayner Architects bought the one-bedroom house from the City of Palm Desert and committed to restoring the property to its former glory, after a series of owners and changes to the original design left the historic home dramatically altered.
I thought it was going to be a video and watched for a few seconds

I work in Palm Springs and surrounding areas. Some of the most badass architecture in houses out there.. one after the other after the other… You get kinda jaded seeing it everyday, but the whole area really is a dream for someone who appreciates architecture

900sqft though (w/ 2 baths), this was probably built as a vacation house.
Weird that the reno pics didn’t look like it was falling apart just had some crappy ‘updates’ over the years that were removed and other things painted or restored but didn’t look like a huge amount of work overall (that ceiling was probably the biggest job), likely the small sq footage was what kept it from being bought up before now.

I love the curved wooden beams. I guess at heart I’m a secrete architect. I suck too badly at math to do that.
