A drive-thru castle? You can find one in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate! Since 1971, national highway B 416 has run through Von der Leyen Castle on the Moselle River. Before that, the castle had already been divided by a railway line since the end of the 19th century.

I feel like this was the result of a diabolic highway planning session, an irascible old duke who wouldn’t move, and a desperate but kind local zoning commissioner who hatched an outrageous idea. And I want this to be a movie.
