    The reason Miami Beach is full of Art Deco buildings is because the Great Hurricane of 1926 wiped out much of the island and builders chose the latest fad (Art Deco) for styling the replacements.

    As romantic as these images make that era appear, just remember that there was horse manure in the streets and there was no air conditioning.
