The foundation might be 16th century, but the tower was built in the 20th c. There’s a hike you can take from Vernazza to Corniglia (or Monterosso — I can’t remember, it’s been too long). Along the way is a rest-stop that sells beer and fruit and stuff. They have a picture from the mid-20th c. (I can’t remember: 40s? 70s?) clearly showing just a pile of rubble on the outcrop.

It was rebuilt (completely reimagined).
