Château de Chenonceau is my favourite French château. It was built in 1514–1522 on the foundations of an old mill and was later extended to span the river. The bridge over the river was built (1556-1559) by French Renaissance architect Philibert de l’Orme.
It was spared demolition during the revolution because it was the only bridge for miles.

A poster of this chateau was on the wall of my high school French teacher’s room and I spent hours staring at it over the years. It really is a beautiful chateau (and certainly more interesting than irregular verbs in passé composé).

It’s like a little Castle of Cagliostro.

Fun fact: the Drossel Castle from Violet Evergarden was inspired by this castle

Pffft whatever, this only spans one more river than my house does
