The acoustic shell at the Ministry of Defense in Brasília is dedicated to Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, the Duke of Caxias and 19th-century patron saint of the Brazilian military. The shape of the shell was intended to resemble the hilt of the Duke’s sword.
