WTC7 – Designed by Emery Roth and Sons – Unique irregular trapezoidal building – purpose of roof setback? I’ve never seen any other building shaped like this, I really liked the look of this building and I wish it was still standing.
The whole building’s structure was really weird, because it was built on top of an existing electrical substation so some of the columns had be held up by a cantilever. In fact the failure of the cantilevered structural elements was the initial starting point of the collapse.
Maybe the sloped glass at the setback gives a better view of the main towers?
