The park around the building is very nice too. There are a lot of different trees, some imported from abroad and not native to Bulgaria.

Fun fact: The name of the Palace "Vrana" means "A Crow". It was first build during the Ottoman Conquer of Bulgaria sometime in the 19th century perhaps for the Ottoman ruler of Sofia. After the Bulgarian Independence in 1878 it was bought by hajji Boneh Petrov who was an associate of the most famous Bulgarian revolutionary and fighter for independence – Vasil Levski. Later due to financial difficulties it was taken in an auction by 2 of the richest’s bankers in the country. Then it was in possession of the prices apothecary. Until the prince (knyaz) himself Ferdinand I of Bulgaria bought it from him. It was remade into a hunting lodge in 1904 and in 1909 as the palace we see today (before those renovations it was only a slightly bigger house). Now about the name. Ferdinand I was a big fan of Ornithology and loved birds. The palace had no name so he wanted to give it one. He decided to name it after the first bird who lands on the palace’s roof after his first arrival which was a flock of crows.

It used to be the monarch’s property but was nationalized. Currently it’s taken care of by a fund who made it a museum of the monarchy’s items and organize guided tours inside it.
