    Excellent photos! I think they are showing different sides of the same triangular building. In the first image, the statue of Cromwell is on the right hand side (Victoria St), while it’s on the left hand side (Deansgate) of the second image.     Those are some sturdy chimneys. Seems like they were the only thing to survive the blast.
