I think it’s shaped like that to be like Brahe’s original building that he used to observe and measure the positions of stars and planets throughout the year. The observer would sit in the center of the building, and it would be oblique like this is, but roofless. The edge of the wall would be where you would mark where the star was before it “disappeared” over the wall. Sitting in the same spot and marking which stars or planets went where over the years made for quality astronomical observations, to the point that Johannes Kepler was able to determine that the orbits of planets were elliptical and not circular.

I think this is one thing actually remember from high school:
Tycho Brahe died of a bladder infection after “holding it in” too long because it was seen as rude to get up and leave the table during dinner.
