    Managed to survive the Revolution only to be burnt by some two-bit pseudo revolutionaries less than a century later.

    Well, to be clear, the Tuileries Palace that is gone is only the horizontal building in the very front. Everything else of the building complex still exists and is known to most people as the Louvre museum.

    This is the approximate point of view today.
