Tuileries Palace, built 1564 was The Paris Residence of The French Monarchs from Henri IV to Napoleon III, fully finished in 1860 burnt down 1871 by the Paris Commune, fully demolished 10 years later was meant to be rebuilt but never was
Almost one hundred years to build and is gone in eleven years. It’s very sad.

Well, to be clear, the Tuileries Palace that is gone is only the horizontal building in the very front. Everything else of the building complex still exists and is known to most people as the Louvre museum.
