IIRC this was the very early design of famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, and in his documentary he despised this (almost to the point he’s ashamed about this). I think he said once in Japanese media something along the line of "I hate arrogant and assertive design".

Is this the architectural equivalent of Homer’s idea for a car?
I like it, i wish i could explain why. Has to do with the size of the pillar contrasting with the rest of the design, it looks so fucking imposing and weird but in a good way. The whole building looks like a corrupted model.
I would have loved to have been an architect but I am really bad at math
