    I went to USGS earthexplorer and cropped these aerials of downtown Syracuse from 1956 and 1972. The amount of buildings demolished in those 16 years for highways and parking is just staggering. (since then more buildings have been built back though). Obviously a lot of economic forces at play during this time as well.
