Having gone to college in Boston, lived in the area and attended many Red Sox games, I’m really going to really miss the West Gate Building. The new building they’re going to put up doesn’t even look like it has much in the way of character, just staggered expanses of un-decorated brick and glass.
I’m also thankful they’re keeping the Citgo Sign, at least.

I hate when the leave buildings to rot so they can tear them down and built a cheap ugly one in its place. Never do the people of the city get any input into the process.

Are they fucking serious? That new building looks like lifeless garbage. Just like anything any major city in the USA has put up after 9/11.

Is that the Citgo sign that you can see in the outfield of Fenway Park? I’ve never been to Boston, but I know that sign.

Surely that building is worthy of adaptation and re-use?!

The replacement looks like complete dogshit, can’t believe the numb nuts tearing this down thinks it’s a improvement. Give me a goddamn break, JUST RESTORE WHAT’S ALREADY THEIR!!! I guess today’s architecture is so cheap and lazy that it’s somehow harder to restore an old already existing building than it does to tear one down and build a completely new one from scratch. Round of applause for whatever crack monkey is behind this bullshit.
