Despite my previous comment, it appears the title is wrong and the monastery was torn down in the ‘70s, but they left the church which is still standing.
According to some local websites the monastery was heavily damaged during ww2 (I guess never fully restored afterwards)
The monastery was outside the city at time of construction but in the 70s they demolished to make space to new residential buildings.
Must be said that the building was less then 100 years old at that time (built 1887) so probably was not regarded as anything special worth spending money to rebuild and keep it.
