The area around the Eiffel Tower today is just downtrodden grass and a bunch of people trying to get tourists to "sign petitions" AKA distract you long enough for their friend to rob you blind. And it is horribly crowded and always has a bunch of trash laying around.

Apparently the tower had too much steel, needed to be lighter.
