What I would give to be able to be in that building and wander around. It kills me that they built these stunning buildings just to tear them down. Makes zero sense.

Obviously the Empire State Building is much larger. But I wonder why they did away with all the cool ornamentation. Was it seen as an unnecessary expense, or did they legitimately think the flat/square style of the Empire State Building looked better?

I learned about this building by browsing OldNYC. I highly recommend it if you’re into these beautiful old buildings. This hotel was found at the the intersection of W 33rd St and 5th Ave. From there you can see the old hotel’s deconstruction, and construction of the empire state building.

The ghosts now all inhabit the Empire State building.
