Another lost building from Baltimore, this is the third headquarters of the Sun newspaper, replacing the Sun Iron Building that was burned in the fire. (But not in the same location)
It was considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city… ironic because it was replaced by the Morris A. Mechanic Theater which was considered one of the ugliest buildings in the city during it’s time. It was itself torn down in 2014. The area is still an empty lot to this day.
The sixties were a repulsive and ignorant time for architecture. People hated these buildings and were appalled at the loss of the character of their cities, yet they still built the crap. Hopefully it will be returned to its former glory!

It’s a tragedy that so many buildings like this were demolished in the 60s, but I can’t help but wonder if in 50 years people will be decrying this era for its demolition of 50s-70s era buildings that today are also considered "ugly".

Baltimore appears always to have been about progress…just not progress that’s actually good for anyone.

Locals celebrated major events at Sun Square, for example, during V-E day.
