The Lumina Pavilion, Wrightsville Beach, NC. Opened in June of 1905, and demolished in the 1970’s. Known as the “Palace of Light” and the “Pleasure Place of the South.” Even featured a movie screen jutting out from the ocean.
I’m a local of the Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach, NC area. Here’s an article in OurState magazine that gives more information about the pavilion. It was very impressive in its day, but it was damaged by a hurricane( big problem here in costal NC ) and never could really be restored. The beaches around here are packed with very impressive homes but very few of the beach front properties are what you could call “historic.” Hurricanes don’t seem to let them last more than 50 years.

Grand beach buildings like this have always fascinated me. I’d kill to be able to see them in their prime. Especially the Sutro Baths in SF.
