What madness made people destroy so much in the 50’s?

Another lost gem. Saddening. Thankfully, one of the towers (the Queen’s Tower) still stands today.

It doesn’t say anything about getting damaged during the war, so the assumption is that wasn’t a contributing factor.

Can’t have an imperial institute when you no longer have an empire.

I just don’t understand how someone comes to such a decision.

The tower on the right remains as Queen’s Tower. It’s part of Imperial College London. The Royal School of Mines building nearby wasn’t demolished, and is still used as a university building (It was used as a location in Kingsman).

I’ve walked past the remaining bit so many times and had absolutely no idea about what was there.

I can’t wait to bore anyone who has the misfortune to be going that way with me about what a shame it is they tore the old building down.
