The Home Insurance Building was the first skyscraper ever built. It was constructed in Chicago in 1885 by Wiliiam Lee Baron Jeney. It was 10 floors and 180 feet which was a staggering height at the time. It was so great, he even built a second building called the Second Leiter Building.
