There used to be Piggly Wiggly stores in California in the 1930’s. One was in San Diego at Park Blvd and Normal St / El Cajon Blvd. Structure is still there.

Sadly we no longer have any Piggly Wiggly’s in Memphis.

This isn’t so much lost architecture as just lost history. Because it’s not striking me as trajic loss of great architecture from this picture.

Clarence Saunders founded Piggly Wiggly in 1916. He famously went bankrupt during the construction of his grand mansion, now known as the Pink Palace (https://www.memphismuseums.org/sites/516/uploaded/images/mansion_tulips_pink_copy-thumb620x300.jpg)
