The Electra Palace which opened 11th February 1911. Closed on 28 July 1945 and reopened as News Theatre in September. Became Classic Cinema on 15 January 1962. Closed 24th November 1982 and demolished shortly after.
What I find most interesting is how white the facade is, at that time everything in Sheffield was black with soot and pollution, like the buildings either side.

The North of England was full of these lost, beautiful theatres. For the lucky ones that didn’t get torn down, many are now derelict and locked up.
