i’m from there. great place to see a show actually.

For all the corruption that went into the building of it, Empire State Plaza is kinda cool. NYS Museum, Capitol, Corning Tower and 2 Cathedrals. Cool place to spend a day.

I agree! I saw many performances and even had my high school graduation there (1979!)

What are all the stories of corruption and stuff? Also do you have any pictures of the inside?

The whole story around this plaza is absolutely wild. One of my favourite stories about regeneration and shady government dealings

And an Times Union (Albany newspaper) article about the history behind the plaza: TU article

"Steamed eggs? That’s what you call egg burgers?"
"It’s a regional expression."
"What region?"
"Upstate New York"
"Well I’m from Utica and I’ve never heard anyone say that."
"Uh it’s an Albany expression!"

Hello fellow Albanian. Never thought I’d find another on reddit.

The whole Empire State Plaza in Albany is incredible to visit. The scale is strange; it seems otherworldly huge in photos and from a short distance, but when you’re there it seems to have shrunk somehow. Have a look at Instagram photos tagged #theeggalbany or #empirestateplaza and look at the concert venue photos. The scale is very human.
