The Theatre was immensly important in fostering and projecting the emerging Czech culture that was undergoing a revival at the time, ultimately culminating in an independent Czechoslovakia. The relatively cramped building, owning to a tight budget, was sensitively incorporated into Zitek’s deisgn for the modern National Theater.
