    Isn’t this the opposite of lost architecture? In fact, isn’t the whole of Ypres kinda the opposite?

    This is the first thing I’ve come across on this sub that didn’t make me really sad. Usually they modernize too much and destroy the original aesthetic. This is awesome.

    How do they rebuild old buildings? Do they still have the plans? Do they go by photograph? What if there were no appropriate photographs? Do they go by memory?

    Man, I just finished Dan Carlin’s series on WWI and between that and pictures like this it’s understandable how people living among this could think it was the end of civilization.
