The castle of Vitré is today one of the most beautiful testimonies of the fortifications of the ‘Marches de Bretagne’ with its wooden draw-bridge, machicolations, loopholes…..and all the elements of a medieval castle.

Such a cool castle. Nice little period accurate setup in one of the towers, and the main hall is still used as the town hall.

I ran a 5k with the start finish line through the gate and drawbridge. Part of the course was in the towers and along the ramparts, very cool.
