Here are some additional info from my original post that was crossposted here by someone else:
The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin Charlottenburg was built in the 1890s and badly damaged in WWII. Public outcry let to the preservation of the ruins of the main tower, that was extended by a modern church in the early 1960s. The bell tower of this more recent construction is currently wrapped in a HUAWEI P30 Pro advertisement to finance it’s renovation.
Almost all of the buildings in Tauentzienstraße were destroyed in WWII. Along with Kurfürstendamm, it’s western continuation, the street was the commercial center of West Berlin during the Cold War.
I also made a more creative composite of those two images that better illustrates the changes.
