The Bevo Mill – St. Louis, MO – Built 1917 by beer baron August Busch – Originally used by Busch family as a private club for the first year – The base of the mill tower was made of stones chosen by Busch himself from Grant’s Farm – An 8-room apartment occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors – Blades rotate
This is about 10min walk from my house. They used to have a huge street blocking festival every year called Bevo Days with games and beer and pretzels. Shame they ended Bevo Days before I could legally drink.

I went to high school across the street. School is closed now. High influx of Bosnians in the area has brought a lot of cafes there, though.

It was built because it’s the halfway point between the Anheuser Busch Brewery and Grants Farm. The Busch’s purchased the farm from President Grant’s estate and would stop overnight here when traveling back and forth between the two.
Grant’s Farm now is a really cool sort of quasi-zoo family entertainment destination. You can also tour President Grant’s home.
