It was reported in 2015 that this gorgeous 2000-year-old temple was badly damaged in a deliberate act by ISIL with explosives which has resulted in the main building and numerous columns to be destroyed; it is however believed that the main gate remains undamaged. Due to the recent situations within the region it doesn’t seem to be particularly clear what is salvageable what is able to be restored.
