    Where did your date come from? The banner says they will be razed “soon” for “modern parking”, and there are posters for the movie “Grand Hotel” in one stores windows. That movie came out in 1932.

    I’m not sure a razed strip mall counts as “lost architecture”.

    One of the things that people like to bitch about the most with my home town’s downtown is that “there isn’t any parking!!1!2!1!” I’m not really sure what that’s supposed to mean, because there’s three large garages, a fourth being planned, and every single street has curbside. I’ve never had an issue finding a spot, even during peak tourist season. I’ve thought about proposing as a joke something totally stupid like taking out all six core blocks to turn them into parking lots, but they’re such idiots that they wouldn’t realize it’s satire…
