    Skopje is just a crazy city architecturally, such a mishmash of styles. If only these two were still around, it would be an even more unusual medley- though on the other hand, if it wasn’t for the destruction of the earthquake the city wouldn’t have its modern character

    The whole square where today stands that giant Alexander looked great before earthquake. Was that upper building on that square?

    I’m picturing myself as a Macedonian Captain, smoking a cigar on that sunny terrace.

    I don’t even smoke, but I’d make an exception for that occasion.
