    In the old days many buildings were thin profiles – so to maximize the light the windows could let in (particularly by offices) – that even after electric lights which took a long time to improve suffciently AND were expensive.

    Many buildings were ‘L’ ‘C’ H’ ‘I’ ‘O’ shaped to have sufficient window walls


    Interesting that this is adjacent to a church (and another across the street)
