If you’re ever in Youghal, visit St Mary’s Collegiate Church, you can stick your head over the wall on the right-hand side for a look at Myrtle Grove. And pop around the back of the church to see the town walls.

It is so unfortunate that the London of this era is almost entirely lost, destroyed in either the great fire or slum clearance. What I’d give for just one shambles-type street with multiple medieval or elizabethan buildings…

Let’s face it, there’s a million houses from that era still in existence and this one would be almost certainly one of the ones that got knocked down anyway for being old and knackered and in a spot where they want to build something.
