I love the older cottages much more than the newer ones. Maybe it was because I grew up in one. Who knows. But I always appreciate the stories I heard about them. I always felt the recent builds didn’t really have any character or personal history. And I’m not talking about the cottages that aren’t shacks like this. But I mean the cottages built in the last 25 years.
But our cottage in Sauble means so much to me. I grew up there in the summer. My mother and my grandmother grew up there in the summer. It’s a member of this family as far as I’m concerned.
And it’s a dump.
But it has so much of our memories attached to it. Like when it was struck by lightning and a lamp exploded next to my aunt when she was sleeping one night. Or when how our dogs have always known they were going to the cottage and have always been extra excited on those car rides and have been their happiest up there.
We took our one dog up there one last time before she passed and she was acting just like a puppy again despite being a 15 year old German shepherd.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. Sauble and these little dumpy cottages are special to me lol
