It’s so similar to the French one I had to look twice.

In one of the oldest Arthurian stories he was said to have fought a giant on Mont St. Michel. (Historia Regum Britanniae by Geoffrey of Monmouth – CE 1136.)

Now I wonder if in the original tellings it was this place and later it was garbled to the more famous location.

This spot would make a lot more sense, especially given that Arthur was said to have been born in Cornwall, also according to Geoffrey of Monmouth in his obviously fantastical “history.”

I visited here while stationed at RAF St. Mawgan with the U.S. Navy in 1999. Thank you for the memory.

I’ve been there 2 days ago, the actual entrance was closed though 🙁
