Post No,2 of Detroit’s Lost Hotels.

Standing on tje southeast side of Campus Martus, The Russell House was noted as the leading hotel in Detroit for nearly half a century as well as being the centerpiece of Detroit’s social scene from the Civil war on. When the hotel was replaced in 1905 Detroit’s Social elite gave the hotel one wild goodbye party which ended with attendees taking home hotel property as souvenirs in table cloths and leaving the place trashed.
