Republic Building at 16th St & Tremont St in Denver CO. Built in 1925, demolished in 1981 to make room for a larger building despite the public outcry and protest against it’s demise. It’s replacement (Republic Plaza) is currently the tallest building in Denver.
This building was still functional and relatively young in the grand timeline of Denver and was only demolished for greedy purposes. It’s replacement is one of the blandest buildings in Denver, all it has going for it an impressive height. I’ll provide a picture below, you’ll recognize it if you’re familiar with Denver or it’s skyline.
I just had a look at some photos of Republic Plaza building. Is it just me, or is it reminiscent of the WTC towers? Just a little, mind you. I know there are a lot of differences.
