    I’m not sure safety was the only reason they wanted to tear that pile of gingerbread off the top.

    Budapest has such incredible architecture! Lots of experimental art nouveau/art deco transitional regional stuff. Fascinating to look at

    There is an historic church near me. The steeples have deteriorated so much to where the sidewalk around them is closed with wire fencing in the interests of public safety, and there are several wire ropes under considerable tension keeping the steeples together together until demolition of the whole structure can occur.

    That might’ve been the smartest decision to keep this building. Not to mention the deisgn between the upper and lower portions isn’t congruent.
