What’s the layout/floorplan like of this style of castle?

Not to nit pick, but Hideyoshi was never Shogun. A Shogun had to be a descendant of the Minamoto clan and Hideyoshi couldn’t make a credible claim. His title was Imperial Regent and Chancellor of the Realm. This didn’t have a practical effect on his day to day rule, but the lack of the prestige that the Shogun title would have granted helped to make the position of his heir more tenuous after his death. Funnily enough, Tokugawa Ieyasu’s claim of Minamoto descent was potentially fabricated and pretty tenuous. However, since Ieyasu came from the old nobility, he could make it credibly enough (especially when he had a musket pointed at your face).

It’s sad there aren’t more of these beautiful castles left.
