Mummers Theater, at 400 W Sheridan Ave in Oklahoma City, OK. Built in 1970 and demolished in 2015 due to ongoing structural issues. Replaced with a generic glass building.
This one will probably be a hit or miss for people, I personally like it despite my extreme devotion for more classic styles. I tend to give modern architecture a lot of shit but I dont hate the whole architecture movement. It’s lead to the creation of some really unique and interesting buildings. A lot of interesting ideas and reason went into this purposeful chaos of this building, I’ll link a interview of the architect describing the design. Neat stuff. The replacement is so generic and forgettable it’s just insulting. This redevelopment perfectly contrasts the differences of modern architecture as an art movement to expand the horizon of the artform, and modern just being used as a scapegoat for lazy developers to shit out the cheapest building possible for profit. Such a shame.
Whoops, accidentally posted the post twice. I deleted the extra post so it’s all good. Don’t want people to think I’m spamming.

I love this — it’s playful and futuristic but, to me at least, doesn’t feel gimmicky. It’s very Star Warsy. My eye sort of dances around it without settling on one place.

For some reason this reminds me of the Scottish Parliament.
