Based on the position of the turret, it looks like they widened the street. Still very much a loss, and the replacement doesn’t do justice to the original, but perhaps that explains why?

If you look at the position of that tower, the street appears to have been significantly widened. I strongly suspect that a highway engineer is to blame for this lost architecture rather than a botched restoration. The person who did the restoration probably did as best as they could to make something useful out of the still-standing back half

Perhaps the tower was restored? I see little of the original building remaining.

That looks to have been completely rebuilt. The minaret doesn’t even match exactly and it’s not in the same location.
