Considered one of, if not the largest open swimming pool in the world. Demolished after USSR collapse due to high upkeep costs.

Wasn’t this originally supposed to be the foundations to the Palace of the Soviets, and then they had to decide what to do with it when the project was cancelled?

I remember my mom telling me how great this pool was. It apparently worked even in winter. There are quite a few recordings of it and it was a really interesting place. It’s a real shame it doesn’t exist anymore, especially considering how cheap and boring the restored church turned out to be.

Wow! This looks awesome. I‘ve never seen a round pool in this size. It‘s a great design. Wish someone would build something like that again.

The darker pools looking deep make me think of a water treatment plant and this makes it look really unsettling to me. Obviously it wouldn’t be too deep but the black makes it look so, so deep.
