It’s interesting to see government building be built in anything but a very “western” style. Of course most these days are just concrete blocks anyways, but I can not imagine the unholy hell people would raise if you wanted to build anything with government money that had the slightest “Arab” style to it now.

Some people pronounce it “uh-RAN-zis” but it’s correctly pronounced “AR-un-saw”.

The Moors were ethnically Arab people who existed in Spain for centuries, their architecture intertwined, and in the late 19th and early 20th century there was a lot of romance behind these styles in California, maybe also in Texas due to the landscape and Spanish/Mexican history.
Either way I love it, it reminds me of the old Downtown LA courthouse, built around the same time, and lots of French Gothic going on.
