    Was this a trend to use older, larger homes like this as nursing homes? The town I’m from in Ohio has a large Italianate Mansion that was built the same year and used as a nursing home as well.

    That’s some delightful architecture for sure. I’m a huge fan of including towers on buildings, and it’s really nice to see one that fits so nicely into the rest of the building.

    It’s unfortunate that so many have to be demolished. The hard truth though is that the foundations for many of them are poorly built or they fall into disrepair and it’s not economically viable to fix them back up.

    These are known as Italianate Villas. There are not a ton left these days. They are very grand houses and even in their heyday they were showpieces.
