This is Herald Square looking North from 34th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. You can see the original New York Herald Building (the namesake of the square), the Elevated 6th Avenue IRT line, old horse carts and early automobiles, along with hundreds of classy, well dressed pedestrians. You can even see down Broadway to the original New York Times Building off in the distance. [Here is a Google Streetview from this angle today](https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7498545,-73.987954,3a,75y,36.57h,97.37t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1so_Pw7Zc6oYiUOByr3DBszA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)
Some interesting things I found out whilst researching this photo:
*The building in the centre of this photo is called the New York Herald Building and it was built in 1893 but unfortunately was demolished in 1921.

There’s one kid running on the girders of the elevated tracks. (How do you spell that in the vernacular? Is it “El” or just “L”?)
