Medical Arts Building in Fort Worth, Texas. Built in 1927, its 1973 demolition was featured in the 1982 film Koyaanisqatsi. Replaced with Burnett Plaza, the tallest building in Fort Worth
Clip of the demolition in Koyaanisqatsi. Also includes footage of other buildings and structures being demolished, including the notorious Pruitt–Igoe complex. I don’t know what/where the others are though, so feel free to share if you do.
Breaks my heart that something so beautiful was torn down

Was it near a body of water?
I’m guessing that’s kind of an array on top there.

Why tear a beautiful building like that down? Whatever replaced it clearly looks like it could have been built elsewhere.

What a big loss!

What are medical ‘arts’? Is it like that crazy guy who makes dead bodies into plastic models?

Looks like tenpenny tower

I watched Koyaanisqatsi on mushrooms once in like 2008 and I’m still traumatized

Ah! My absolute all time favourite film. Then I’ve seen this building collapse over a hundred times! As a film teacher, my students were often amazed when shown this film.

This is the building that replaced the Medical Arts Building.
