Last night I posted a picture of my cabin and a few people left comments suggesting I’m “squeezing every bit of karma I can” out of it. The truth is yeah it feels good to be appreciated by others and I’m proud of myself for breaking away from social norms.
i find it so annoying when people claim you’re only doing something for karma. like yea i totally only care about the made up internet points, i definitely don’t wanna show off this cool thing that i built or picture i took or video i watched. but im actually super jealous of you man, been thinking about doing this for a couple years now but idk where i would want to build. hopefully someday soon.

Then at least post pictures of the inside.

I mean, isn’t everyone that posts on Reddit looking for karma?

Interesting you are getting any mileage at all out of that plywood. I live in the damp PacNW and exposed ply like that would turn into sogy Filo dough in about a week. It might last a year with paint. It could last longer with good maintenance and continual painting.

You seem to really like what you’ve built, have you considered investing in some better weatherproofing? Plywood isn’t exactly known for it’s resilience, and in severe conditions like rural Alaska, there’s a high chance of it de-laminating, which would be a shame. What you can do is cover it with Tyvek and that will prevent water from hitting the plywood directly. Then to conceal the tyvek / add an addtional layer of protection you can put on some type of siding. For your cabin aesthetic, lapped wood planks would look nice. And since your structure is so small, those would be relatively cheap additions but provide longterm value.
